I know of a women, A. of North Kingstown RI. She has taken in a child with Spina Bifida who was is not able to live in his home. A. and her husband have made a wonderful and supportive home for him- giving up much of her own resources, time and energy. She has found a way to make everything work. However, helping this child partipate in the community is difficult. This child is too large to pick up from his wheelchair and he has had to miss out on many experiences because they were not able to get there (christmas parties, etc). A van which could be equiped for a chair lift would greatly reduce the stess and restaint on this family. These are very deserving people who don't ask for a lot. I would really like to see them recieve some assistance towards obtaining a van. Thank you.
